VILLA VAROISE

Villa Varoise is a family retreat in the South of France designed by architecture firm NADAAA in collaboration with Bidard & Raissi architects. The hilltop home is located on an agricultural plot with olive trees, stone pine, and a vineyard, and was designed with respect for the surrounding nature, leveraging the sloping terrain and utilising regional vernacular materials and construction processes.

Bountiful southern light fills the rooms, cascading over the serene interior palette of wood and stone. The indoor and outdoor spaces are constantly in conversation with one another through materials, thoughtfully placed apertures, and intertwining elements including the central courtyard, exterior staircase, pool, and wider landscape.

The primary living, eating, and sleeping spaces lie just below the roof, while the lower wing, conceived as a street-corridor, includes a reading room and bedrooms that open directly onto the landscape. Many of the living spaces of this house are outdoors, taking advantage of varying views, times of the day and public vs private moments.

De La Espada furniture features on the lower level including Harold Desk by Luca Nichetto and Solo Dining Chair by Neri&Hu.
